This made Emperor Claudius II call for a death sentence for Saint Valentine.
Valentine was even imprisoned for his open views and outlook, like rebelling against the arranged marriage culture of that era. While staying in the jail, he fell in love with the jailer's daughter. He was ultimately given death by imprisonment on February 14th.
